The first restaurant/place that I am reviewing is Bev's Homemade Ice Cream. Bev's is a local ice cream place in Richmond located in Carytown, across the street from the historic Byrd Theater. They have everyday flavors and baked goods, but also have daily specials. Bev’s is real authentic ice cream that is made in house by Eva Swanson, manager and ice cream maker.
My personal favorites at Bev’s are the espresso Oreo, Nutella gelato, peppermint and their hot fudge. The Nutella and the peppermint are specials and are delicious! The Nutella tastes just like Nutella and the peppermint has crushed peppermint in it.Their hot fudge is some of the best that I have ever had! It is liquid when they pour it on the ice cream and then gets kind of hard and gooey its delicious! Something that I am not a fan of is the tiramisu gelato. In my mind tiramisu ice cream or gelato would be some kind of espresso ice cream with a bit of chocolate. I have tasted the tiramisu and it tastes like a vanilla ice cream, it doesn’t seem to have chocolate at all and doesn’t taste like coffee at all. It's disappointing.
I asked my friend what she thinks of Bev's and what her favorite things are from Bev's. Here is her response: “ Personally I love Bev’s. They are a great local business to support with great ice cream. It’s a bit pricy but its worth it. My favorite thing there is the dirty chocolate which is a special and the espresso Oreo which is a everyday flavor. “
I give it a 4.5 stars out of 5 stars!
